    Verdict

Ross Birkett rode the winner of this last year but his mount this time, Dakota City, is better on Polytrack. Patrick Mullins, successful in 2013, may have a better chance on the rejuvenated English Summer, who had Simon Walker's mount Keys behind when scoring over course and distance a month ago. But Cape Victoria and Paris Snow may be in the handicapper's grip now while Bold Runner is proving hard to win with and course winner Arantes came up short in the grade at Newbury last time. PILGRIMS REST has been racing on going that's been too quick this season. He was just beaten at York last year on an easier surface off a 2lb higher mark and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back here under the vastly experienced Sam Waley-Cohen.
