Verdict

This conditionals selling handicap isn't a contest to get too excited about, but there has to be a winner, and we'll side with ROYAL PRODIGY in preference to Safin and Call Me Sir. Ron Hodges' gelding has had 5 months off the track since disappointing in his previous runs, after having earlier been knocking on the door. He's not won off this official rating of 95, and is well exposed, but this contest shouldn't take a great deal of winning. He's the only runner to have won over course and distance, and he should be able to handle the conditions. Safin has plenty in hand at the weights, and ran a creditable third in a similar event last time out, following a switch to Paul Blockley's yard. The drop back in trip should help. Call Me Sir was well backed last time out and going well before unseating his rider. The going won't be a concern. It's a minimum stakes race, and we'll be supporting Royal Prodigy.
