In depth

Verdict

Sussex Ranger, a useful hurdler, came good over fences at the fifth attempt at Newbury in the spring. Annsam was progressing nicely over hurdles at the turn of the year and is worth a mention. Tedham hasn’t had much racing but may need this while Eden Du Houx dropped away tamely on his reappearance at Uttoxeter. Thegallantway won a match at Bangor over hurdles against a better-fancied rival and St Barts has won two of his four starts under Rules. OFALLTHEGINJOINTS (NAP) made a very promising start over fences at Aintree, only weakening on the run-in. A 4lb rise seems harsh but he has untapped potential and could be better than a handicapper.
