Verdict

Not the easiest race to get your head around but we will go with Outside Investor, with his biggest dangers possibly proving to be Gan Eagla and Scarlet Mix. The selection comes here fit and well having recently won twice. He also ran well off his revised mark last time when put over a trip short of his best. Upped in distance today, he could go well. Much as Gan Eagla is five pounds above the mark from which he won at Ludlow in March, he may have needed his latest run and, with scope for improvement, could play a part today. Scarlet Mix is also open to improvement and, even though he failed to build on early promise last season, another year on his back could see further improvement. There are a number of others that could be mentioned, including Freedom Now, who has switched to Robert Alner and who looks reasonably weighted if at his best, Nippy des Mottes, who is lightly raced but his latest second has taken knocks, Native Chance and Mrs Philip, who hold place claims but couldn't be confidently suggested for win purposes, and Red Canyon, who is back to a reasonable mark and could go well if less use is made of him than last time. Overall, though, in a tricky race, we will side with Outside Investor.
