    Verdict

Old Guard, a classy hurdler, was long odds-on on his chasing bow at Newton Abbot 11 days ago but tried to take the first by the roots and came to a complete standstill. He was wisely pulled up but it remains to be seen if that has left its mark and he is Flat-bred so isn't certain to make it as a chaser. IMPERIAL PRESENCE is a half-brother to useful chaser Generous Ransom and is sure to have been well schooled. He might be the value in a race that makes limited appeal for betting purposes.
