Verdict
Although it may be prudent to get an updated going report before getting involved in this tough handicap for stayers, the top two on the racecard appear to hold solid claims and, as Master George is much the fresher horse, Phillip Hobbs' charge just edges the vote over Majed. Although Kouros Des Obeaux has a good chance at the weights and is worth monitoring for signs of support when the betting opens in earnest. As is Belski, who goes very well at this course and should make a bold bid to extend his unbeaten record at the track to three if all goes well for him. The Colin Tizzard-trained eleven-year-old does not have too many miles on the clock and is a worthy alternative if he can banish the memory of his dismal run at Taunton last time. However, he lacks the scope held by the selection and is a risky proposition for win only purposes today. In contrast to Majed, who has taken well to fences and has a proven record when stamina is at a premium. However, he may find this trip to be his bare minimum these days and may be done for toe near the finish. Therefore, Master George, who is adaptable with regard to the ground, can use his turn of foot over a distance that should play to his strengths. The son of Mtoto made a very pleasing debut over fences when he was last seen out and, with improvement expected over this trip, Master George is fancied to hold all the aces at the finish of Exeter's most valuable race of the day.
