In depth

Verdict

Officer In Command has only ever won on the artificial but if acting on the turf he looks agreeably weighted and the blinkers that brought about improvement last time are applied again. James Pollard is still a maiden from twenty eight starts and this statistic is off-putting, although he does have the assistance of Andrew Heffernan. Apt Son hasn't won for more than two years but is worth a market check as he travels over from Ireland. SPRING SECRET gets the vote over a trip he can handle and although Bryn Palling doesn't have a good record at the course his option under the assistance of Declan Cannon can win this race. Sandy Shaw is a danger having won over this trip on faster ground at Bath in July but her last two efforts haven't inspired confidence. Spring Secret is the tentative vote.
