Verdict

MAJOR EURO is back on an attractive mark and we take the booking of Richard Johnson as serious intent from connections, so we will chance him at a likely price, while Sanpor and Roussea are obvious players. The last-named is also on a handy mark and has won over this trip, so he has to be taken seriously. However, all his wins have been on a sound or faster surface, so we'll just oppose today. Sanpor was a wide-margin Hereford winner at the beginning of the month, for which he has gone up 8lbs. Cut in the ground suits, but a look at his record suggests that it won't be easy for him to produce a repeat effort and he can be taken on. Daramoon needs to show improvement to figure and there are concerns over the going for her, while Dukedom has been eased 3lbs by the handicapper after a decent effort over course and distance last time and has some sort of claim. Even so, Major Euro is the one for us. Trip and ground hold no fears for the veteran gelding, who is back on the same mark as when scoring at Uttoxeter in April. Recent efforts have been less-than-encouraging, but we will hopefully see him perform better here and he could go in at a price.
