In depth

Verdict

Pateese has been placed in all three starts over hurdles but looks very one-paced and was readily left behind by Buddy Holly when odds-on at Towcester earlier this month. Stablemate Thunderstorm won a bumper at Huntingdon last season but has been well beaten in two runs over timber, so this may be best left to ANGE GUERRIER. Paul Nicholls' grey, a winner four times on the Flat in his native France, shaped nicely when fifth under a patient ride on his debut over hurdles at Taunton and should have gleaned considerable benefit from that outing. Ballinteni was found out in better company at Cheltenham last time but had previously run well in this grade at Taunton and Kempton and is preferred to newcomer Higgy's Ragazzo on the others.
