    Verdict

Raimond Ridge is a nicely-bred individual and gets the nod over Doughnut and Call Me Courageous, who make the most appeal from the newcomers, while Riflessione has the benefit of a run but needs to show more than he did in the Brocklesby if he is going to get off the mark here. The last named made steady late ground on his introduction at Doncaster and will have learned from the experience. Being by Captain Rio, he should handle the ground and he must go close in a field of this size. Call Me Courageous is by the same sire and, with the assistance of Seb Sanders in the plate, a big run can also be expected. The colt¿s half-brother, Golden Turk, won on heavy ground in Italy; so the portents indicate Sanders¿ mount should also cope with the conditions. Doughnut represents a yard that always has to be feared with their youngsters and she is respected accordingly. It is safe to assume she will get further in time and is one to keep notes on from here. However, Raimond Ridge makes a touch more appeal on this occasion. A 70,000euro purchase, he is closely related to the classy Indian Maiden, who coped with most types of ground during a profitable career. Mick Channon¿s team are on the boil just now and Raimond Ridge can strike another blow in the favour of the West Ilsley set up.
