Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Marjina gets the vote ahead of Maletton, Yogi, Nonantais and Super Myth. Marjina was a dual winner over hurdles in 2005, but did not see much action last year, having made a belated debut over fences at Huntingdon less than a month ago. She blundered her way round to get third then, but will have learnt from the experience, and as she is sure to have been well schooled since, is taken to make up for lost time with a clear round. Maletton shaped fairly well when fourth over fences at Ludlow recently, and had winning form in France two years ago, so has to be kept on the right side with his stable in a bit of form at present, while Yogi took on good company when trained in Ireland by Tom Foley, and despite his advancing years, is another to consider. Nonantais was beaten when refusing at the last at Fontwell but had shaped better the time before when second at Plumpton. Super Lord has been pulled up on his last two outings but has plenty of ability, so he can be added to the mix, but we shall side with Marjina.
