      Verdict

      Clear Ice was well beaten in much better company at Newmarket last week, but had earlier landed a double at Brighton and has the beating of Magical Speedfit on that form. MISS POLLY PLUM also registered a double on the turf at Lingfield in June and drops back into the same grade today after a couple of starts at Yarmouth. Chris Dwyer's filly gets the nod ahead of Straboe, who saves his best for Wolverhampton these days, and Caledonia Princess whose three wins last season all came at Windsor.
