Verdict
Mark Pitman's Briar showed enough behind Lord Protector at Ascot earlier this month to suggest that a race of this nature would be well within his compass. The son of House Rules has shown steady improvement with each start and, with the possibility of even more to come, he will be tough to beat in a moderate contest and gets the TEAMtalk vote. Correct And Right has the beating of Ressourse on their running behind Spectroscope at Kempton but a bigger danger to the selection may come form one of the newcomers to the winter game. Last Rebel, a German import, trained by Richard Phillips and middle distance maiden Theatre Of Life appeal most but it will be surprise if any of these are good enough to beat the Pitman horse.
