Verdict
MUNLOCHY BAY is selected albeit with reservations as the claims of Sphere and Princess Flame must be respected. The selection rounded off last season with a decent victory over two miles at Goodwood and therein lies the problem as the step up in trip seemed to bring about improvement from this stoutly bred mare. She remains well enough handicapped but it's hard to be certain that she'll have the tactical speed to cope with this shorter trip. Princess Flame also finished 2008 on a high but she has struggled over hurdles subsequently and her yard has only sent out one winner in this calendar year. Sphere frustrated her supporters last season but the early signs are encouraging for Fanshawe fans with the yard in good form this month and she may be able to gain that all important win. Mildoura wasn't disgraced on her first start since arriving from France so market support would make her of interest whilst Onemoreandstay has bits and pieces of form to her name that are enough to put her in the picture. Preference, though, is for Munlochy Bay.
