Verdict
A poor race here with question marks over virtually all the field. It may pay to side with Esendi on his chase debut based on the level of form he showed over hurdles last season when with Graham McCourt. His new trainer should have him ready for this first run over the larger jumps and this gelding could go well at rewarding odds. King Of The Dawn is not the force he once was and has yet to show he likes this type of surface. For that reason he can be overlooked here. Sharp Seal is also unproven on this surface and he needs to show an improvement in racecourse form to show up well here. Dragon King is another horse who is not as good as he was. He would have needed his reappearance run in November and is entitled to improve and it would be no surprise to see him contention come the closing stages to give the selection most to do.
