In depth

Verdict

Amadeus is bound to be popular, as he often is, but Michael Scudamore's gelding very often fails to deliver and at the forecast odds he looks worth taking on with preference for Monsal Dale ahead of Grand Prairie. The last mentioned has shown a similar level of form in his last couple of starts and is entitled to be thereabouts again but may need some help from the handicapper. Picot de Say ran better over course and distance last time and has claims if able to reproduce the form of that effort, while Fireside Legend is entitled to strip fitter for his recent reappearance run but needs to if he is to take a hand. Breezer has given little sign of encouragement of late and a better bet looks to be Monsal Dale, who probably found the ground too testing when disappointing here last time but has an obvious chance on the evidence of previous form on ground similar to today.
