A wide open contest to get proceedings underway, with RAPID PETE capable of living up to his name, at the expense of Orchard House and Burgess Hill. Rapid Pete is among the least exposed, and this represents a step up in trip for the David Pipe runner. He's shown promise in his previous runs, and now makes his handicap debut, being well in at the weights. Orchard House won his penultimate race in some style on similar ground, but couldn't follow that up last time out, but Evan Williams' string are in decent form. Previously a low grade winner on the flat, he looks more suited to this sort of contest. Burgess Hill had been off the track for more than a year before a pipe opener at Newcastle on Friday afternoon, when coming last of four. A modicum of promise has been shown, and this lowly contest won't take a great deal of winning. We'll side though with Rapid Pete.
