In depth

Verdict

Competition has recorded back-to-back victories at Uttoxeter and makes more appeal than Robin Des Mana, having a first run for Phil York having won a Southwell seller last time for Gordon Elliott. But Richard Newland’s novice is rated only 54 on the Flat whereas WEST DRIVE (NAP) is rated 86 and was only beaten half-a-length over 1m6f at Sandown on his debut for Gary Moore having won three times on the Flat for Roger Varian. The latter can make a winning start over hurdles with Cora Sundrop still beaten more than 20 lengths when second at Worcester.
