In depth
Verdict
Schuh Shine still appears to be ahead of the handicapper and is taken to gain the hat-trick here, with The Speaker and The Risky Viking fighting it out for place money. Two comfortable victories mean that the ten-year-old has a penalty today, however he looks sure to take it in his stride over this longer trip on ground that he handles well, and he still looks to be well-treated. The stable continues to be in good form at present and he looks to be a class above his rivals today. The Speaker tackles obstacles for the first time after a good run last-time out at Warwick, however he takes a massive step-up in distance so a lot must be taken on trust. The Risky Viking's fourth to Joacci last month reads as fair form in the context of this race and so he can make the frame, whilst Southern Classic makes his debut for Emma Lavelle today so must be watched for signs of confidence. However we are happy to return to Schuh Shine as our confident selection.
