Verdict
This looks as competitive as ever with Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott responsible for eleven of the entries plus two reserves. The former handles Easy Game, whose only defeat in his last nine came when well beaten in this a year ago though he suffered interference. However, Paul Townend has chosen Kilcruit, a very impressive winner of a Grade A novices' handicap at the Punchestown Festival before well beaten at Auteuil. Jack Kennedy goes with Fury Road for Elliott and his mount, a Grade 1 winner over fences, has been contesting all the major races and looks on a fair mark. ENNISKERRY's second run over fences resulted in a Grade 3 victory and he had an ideal warm-up for this when scoring on the Flat at Leopardstown in June so he's handed the vote. Last year's winner Hewick is 13lb higher thanks to superb subsequent form which includes a Grade 1 victory over timber in the USA and a Grade 2 over fences at Sandown. Brian Hughes has been brought over for the ride so another big effort looks on the cards. Final Orders, another recent Flat winner, is greatly respected on his form over the winter.
