Verdict

This has gone to Dermot Weld four times in the past eight years including with the high-class Grey Swallow in 2003. The Curragh-based handler has entered A WORD APART this time and big-race entries suggest better is expected of him after a very promising debut behind Sydney Harbour on his home track last month though the winner did little for the form on his only subsequent start. Alexander Pope will have come on for his debut behind Jackaroo at Gowran in May but this is a much stronger event while stablemate Robin Hood was a big disappointment behind Pathfork at the Curragh recently and he's held by the promising Tashqeel on an earlier run. Poltava was a long way behind Master Of Hounds at Tipperary though that was no disgrace and Jim Bolger's newcomer Quill And Vellum is one to note as he has entries in the Futurity and Royal Lodge Stakes.
