Verdict

Born By The Sea won this a year ago and though 6lb higher shouldn't be dismissed. Busselton won on the Flat last month in preparation for this and he's won three times over fences while Bold Emperor gets in at the bottom of the handicap despite winning by 15 lengths at Wexford. Coach Carter was going very well in the spring and has been given a break while Russian Diamond won at Fairyhouse in October and had a spin over timber in May to put him right for this. BATCIO is very consistent and though unraced since an excellent second in the Topham at Aintree in April his trainer knows how to get one ready so he's handed the vote. Willie Mullins would have plenty of options and Fan De Blues, a novice chase winner at the fixture last year, is his only entry.
