Verdict

COURAGE MON AMI kept his unbeaten record intact with victory in the Gold Cup at Ascot. There’s plenty of scope for further improvement and he landed a handicap at this track on his reappearance. Several of these were beaten by the Gosdens’ charge at Ascot with Coltrane, fourth in this last year, and Emily Dickinson finishing closest and the latter has subsequently landed a Group 2 at the Curragh. Giavellotto beat last season’s St Leger hero Eldar Eldarov, Broome and Quickthorn to win the Yorkshire Cup over 1m6f in May and the latter went on to Listed success but the remainder have plenty to find on these terms.
