Verdict

Mark Johnston has won two of the last three renewals but last year’s winner, Soldier In Action, is one of five runners representing the Middleham trainer this time. Time To Study has a touch of class but the weight to match. It would be no surprise if Hochfeld proved the pick of the quintet as he’s been lightly campaigned this season having paid the price for his exploits last term. Melting Dew beat Tuesday’s winner Alfarris at Sandown but will have his stamina to prove. Walton Street won on soft going at this meeting last year and was also successful in Dubai at the start of the year. He was returning from a break when third in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Ascot and looks a threat to all. Pacify won with plenty in hand over 1m4f at York but PLATITUDE can improve on his fifth in this last year as he seems to have been rejuvenated by a change of scenery this season and ran well in a Listed race at Sandown last month.
