Verdict

Frieda Kahlo, Akeydah and Ripple Effect set a fair standard in this maiden but a chance is taken on one of the newcomers with Pennyghael getting the verdict over Favourable Terms. Mick Channon has his string in fine fettle at present and has a four in five strike-rate with Sheikh Mohammed-owned runners on their debuts so the claims of Pennyghael have to be respected. The daughter of Pennekamp has reportedly been working well at home and may well be good enough to oblige at the first time of asking. Being by Selkirk. Sir Michael Stoute's Favourable Terms may want more time and a softer surface to show her best form and a bigger threat to the selection is likely to come from one of those with racing experience. Geoff Wragg's Frieda Kahlo has done little wrong but is becoming exposed as well as expensive to follow, while Ripple Effect needs to improve. More interesting though could be Akeydah. David Loder's filly looked in need of the outing at Nottingham on her debut and should strip fitter for her run behind Proxima there but we are happy to side with the newcomer Pennyghael.
