    Verdict

Rajsaman was only a length behind the brilliant Goldikova in the Prix D'Ispahan in May and his trainer doesn't waste journeys abroad. Rio De La Plata has only run once here, winning the Vintage Stakes in 2007. He's a dual Group 1 winner in Italy but was put in his place by Canford Cliffs in the Queen Anne at Ascot and it's unlikely there will be a form reversal. Richard Hannon's star miler won this a year ago when the third consecutive three-year-old to do so. It takes a high-class member of the younger generation to take this as Rock Of Gibraltar and Rip Van Winkle have proved in the past and FRANKEL is expected to continue the sequence. The brilliant 2000 Guineas winner pleased hardly anyone in beating Zoffany in the St James's Palace and he'll need to do much better than that. His rider will have a difficult task judging the pace exactly right but hopefully will do so and confirm his status as a truly outstanding miler.
