Verdict

Stradivarius’ powers may be on the wane but he probably didn’t have the run of the race when under two lengths behind Spanish Mission in the Ascot Gold Cup and Frankie was quick to accept defeat inside the final 2f. He still finished well ahead of the Ballydoyle pair Santiago and Serpentine and there will be plenty prepared to take short odds about the seven-year-old completing a five-timer in this contest. TRUESHAN has run a couple of fine races in defeat this year and connections have had their prayers answered with recent rain as it was soft going when he pulled well clear in the Long Distance Cup at Ascot in the autumn. Sir Ron Priestley, on the other hand, loves to hear his hooves rattle so his chances have diminished.
