Seinesational was only beaten a neck in this marathon last year and races off the same mark. He is 4lb better off with third True Destiny and is fancied to confirm the form with that good yardstick but was no match for the rapidly-improving OLEG over 2m1f at Pontefract. On that evidence, Paul Nicholls’ winning hurdler and chaser will relish the extra here and is probably still a step ahead of the handicapper, despite a 3lb rise. Thore Hammer Hansen gave Coeur de Lion a superb ride to win the Ascot Stakes and his mount is a thorough stayer who will be hard to keep out of the frame again. Summer Moon, Smart Champion and Rochester House all finished close up at Ascot and last year’s Ascot Stakes winner The Grand Visir was second in the Queen Alexandra. Blue Laureate split True Destiny and Rochester House over 2m at Newbury so also enters calculations.
