Verdict

HARLESTONE TIMES clearly didn't get home over a longer trip in the Northumberland Plate last time but had won well here over 1m4f on his previous start. Proven ability on this track is always a plus and John Dunlop's gelding is taken to bounce back with today's faster going also in his favour. Verdant should give a good account despite top weight as this is the first time he's contested a handicap since winning at this meeting last year. Sharaayeen could be interesting trying a new trip but he finished just behind Classic Vintage at Haydock last time and Amanda Perrett's charge is another who has gone well here in the past.
