    Verdict

A false pace is always a worry in these small fields so connections of the principals will be hoping Darwin takes up the running and gives a good lead to stablemate War Command. But the Ballydoyle duo will do well to hold off the challenges of Toronado and KINGMAN. The latter has made up for a blip in the 2000 Guineas in no uncertain manner subsequently winning the Irish equivalent before landing the St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot in great style. Three-year-olds have a good record in this and John Gosden's colt is fancied to get the better of Toronado. The latter proved himself a high-class miler with a comeback victory in the Queen Anne at Ascot and will likely force his younger rival to pull out all the stops. Outstrip has been no match for Kingman so far and it's likely to prove a similar story today.
