Verdict

COMMUNIQUE has been frustrating to follow this year but gets a final chance to come good as he probably didn’t quite see out the extra yardage when beaten by Eagles By Day at York last time. He has earlier finished ahead of last year’s winner Desert Encounter and Alounak when runner-up at Newmarket but Pablo Escobarr looks a danger back over his optimum distance having got outpaced over 1m2f at Newbury. Spirit Of Appin weakened quickly on her reappearance at Haydock but she’ll strip fitter here and did win in this grade at Newmarket last year. Le Don De Vie is only a handicapper, however, while Thundering Blue is looking a shadow of his former self.
