Greatness defied a 7lb rise for a narrow victory at Kilbeggan when landing a better race at Galway but has since run poorly on the Flat and has another 9lb to carry here. Coldstonesober is well handicapped over hurdles compared to his chase mark which shot up after a victory at Galway last month. He ran well behind Gentleman Duke back over timber at Ballinrobe but that was over 2m1f and this is a huge step up in trip. GRAND PARTNER looked in need of this sort of trip when staying on strongly over 2m6f at Navan a week ago. He's been improving with every run and though not exactly leniently treated can get back to winning ways. Desertmore Stream is admirably consistent and stays the trip well and Shane Shortall's claim should help him get involved while Thekingofconnemara was in excellent form in the early part of the summer and should be fresher than most after a break.
