In depth

Verdict

Jim Bolger has won the last two of these so Alertness has to be respected despite a poor run on her final start which came last May. She'd begun with a couple of fair efforts and should be thereabouts. Creggs Pipes reappeared with an excellent run behind The Warrior on ground more testing than this. She'll have come on for the run and looks certain to get into contention. Dermot Weld trained the runner-up in that latter event so should have a line to the form and saddles a couple here. JOALLIERE is Pat Smullen's pick and she's the second foal of a mare who produced a Group 3 winner with her first so she's given the nod to make a successful start. The stable's Pianola is also respected along with Tommy Stack's Love Rosie, who is a half-sister to five winners and one to keep an eye on in the betting.
