In depth

Verdict

Ian Brennan rode his first winner in Ireland since 2008 after returning from the UK when NIGHT SINGER comfortably landed a 1m1f handicap at Cork on Saturday and his mount, who had scored over that trip here in July, looks set to complete a quick double with a 5lb penalty. Waterloo Sunrise is consistent enough but still a maiden after 13 starts and may need a bit further and though Kalacan continues to perform with credit his strike-rate of 1-33 on the Flat hardly endears him to punters. Ring Them Bells didn't show much in his first season as a three-year-old but Tommy Stack's charge can start his handicap career from a lowly mark and is one to note in the betting.
