In depth

Verdict

The four-year-old CIRCE'S ISLAND could hardly have been more impressive at Limerick where she landed a maiden hurdle in a canter. A mark of 112 doesn't look excessive for her handicap debut and she can complete the double. Vic Dancer won a bumper on heavy ground here and though unsuccessful so far over timber she's shown ability and is on the shortlist. Winning point-to-pointer Teresa Lisbon showed nothing before a much improved run when a 50/1 chance in a big field at Cork. She had a 107-rated opponent 4l back in third so her current rating looks by no means too high. Good As Gold hasn't returned to the sort of form she was showing in the spring but she's now on her lowest ever mark. Kindly Vinnie created a shock when landing a Sligo maiden in May and runner-up Pennys Tune won three of her next four starts. Mystic Lass couldn't quite get to Oscar Invitation at Clonmel but that was her best run to date so she's another to note in a tricky race.
