Verdict
Dermot Weld won the first running of this last year and will be looking to Ebediyin to repeat the process. He made a successful debut at Galway in September and started a short-priced favourite for a Listed event at Leopardstown the following month but disappointed. Mint Chai completed a double when landing a strong nursery at Naas in September but is penalised while Lieutenant General was well beaten in better company after his maiden victory at Leopardstown. MANDARIN MONARCH did well to score on his debut as his pedigree suggests he should do better in his second season and though he'll need to improve there appears every chance of him doing so. He gets the vote as the filly French Blue, an easy winner at Dundalk in August, had her limitations exposed in a Listed contest there earlier this month.
