In depth

Verdict

The market will offer most clues and TODAY'S THE DAY is given a final chance to oblige with Major Phil and Best In Class watched closely. Michael Jarvis' charge has had her chances of getting off the mark in the past so weak maidens will be in short supply and all aids are now in play. She is arguably better over the six furlong trip than seven so we are prepared to take that chance. Major Phil caught the eye with a staying on effort at this course last time out. He could make into a useful handicapper on that evidence. Best In Class is bred for further than today but he remains one to watch in the market on debut. Kingsgate Storm was last seen in the Windsor Castle and acquitted himself well for a horse of limited experience. Risky Lady was a very cheap buy at the sales but has plenty of speed in her pedigree. Kilkenny Blade may need more time. Today's The Day is our pick.
