In depth

Verdict

Wallonia is taken here to follow up her success at Thirsk 3 weeks ago, but in a big field with a number of chances, Welsh Opera and Ride A White Swan should also be considered. Kevin Ryan's filly was friendless in the market when landing the spoils that day, and it was a better race than this. Giving weight away all round, but not significant amounts, the step up from 7 furlongs to a mile doesn't look as if it'll be a problem. Welsh Opera was only narrowly beaten here in a fillies handicap last time out, and a step down in class could do the trick insofar as a trip to the winners' enclosure is concerned. Ride A White Swan has been placed in several handicaps, and should be involved at the business end, while among others who could be backed are distance winners Mr Fantozzi, Whaston and Alfredtheordinary. Tapas Lad showed a liking for the surface when winning over further back here in May. But the one we favour, albeit marginally, is Wallonia.
