      In depth

      Verdict

BASANTI can defy top weight to take the finale, and is our pick ahead of Smarterthanuthink and Phoenix Flight. She ran away with a similar event at Bath last time out. She still looks to be on the improve, as connections look to recoup the 260,000 Guineas they paid for her. Smarterthanuthink stays on all day, and is one that likes to be at the vanguard. Last time out at a decent price he was narrowly beaten, and a repeat of that effort should see him involved. Phoenix Flight isn't that exposed, or the most straightforward and just missed out on a place here last time out. He's another that stays on, and in time may want further. To land the lucky last though, we'll side with Basanti.
