In depth

Verdict

The 70-rated Palawi sets the standard but RAWNAQ can improve past him and see off stablemate Le Volcan D'Or in the process. With Greg Fairley taking the ride the seelction looks to be the pick of the Middleham trainer's duo. His first run at the unique Epsom track was laced with promise and this well-bred colt is only going to improve for the longer trip this afternoon. Le Volcan D'Or was really well-touted before his debut at Wolverhampton in January but he flopped badly. Presumably he is capable of better but he is taken on here with his breeding not suggesting this trip at this track will be ideal. Haunting has shown very little and may be more of a handicapping prospect, so a bigger threat should be I'm Frank who started off life in an Ayr bumper and will appreciate the stiffer test of stamina this afternoon. Palawi represents a yard in good nick and this Dubawi colt shaped at Redcar last time as if ready for this longer trip. There is plenty of stamina in the dam's side of his pedigree to back up this claim however we are happy to take him on with Rawnaq.
