In depth

Verdict

Staked A Claim, Desert Hunter and Quicks The Word are the three to look at here, with Redcar winner Staked a Claim the selection. Quicks The Word carries top weight here and looks to have sound claims. Twice a winner last season, he belied his starting price with a great effort first time out, showing good pace to lead a big field of handicappers, before being headed close home, finishing second. He can go well. Desert Hunter looks capable of playing a part as well, but he has only won once and he was runner up in a seller last time. That was his first glimpse of form for a while but he can reach the frame. After a sound effort to finish fourth here on his re-appearance in a race which looks solid, Staked a Claim justified favouritism at Redcar last time over this trip. He sees out this distance well, is in good form, and off only a four pound higher mark, Staked a Claim can score again.
