        Verdict

        Violent Velocity has had 106 races and won a dozen but hasn't run on this track since he finished last in 2006. He was six lengths behind Staffhoss at Musselburgh in July and appears unlikely to reverse the form with the winner. Funding Deficit has only won once in 23 starts but has dropped 15lb in the past year while Indian Giver scored over the course and distance in July and her rider's claim brings her down to the same mark. ROCKY'S PRIDE dropped down to 7f to halt a long losing run at Newcastle and, though the assessor hasn't exactly been kind with a 5lb rise, George Chaloner is excellent value for his claim and can steer the eight-year-old to his seventh career victory. Nelson's Bay is inconsistent but produced one of his better runs when just failing to catch Tanawar at Catterick on Saturday.
