Verdict
This is not a very strong maiden and Mark Johnston's Sarenne could be the one, with Elusive Kitty and Just A Fluke rated as her biggest dangers. From a powerful yard, Sarenne has to be respected at this level and this half-sister to Murghem, who will certainly stay further than this in time, is sure to know her job first time up. The trainer also saddles Just A Fluke who has shown form enough to be given a chance in this low-grade contest but, like Templet, is not blessed with too many gear changes. Swords At Dawn has some interesting breeding and the trip should suit at the first time of asking, while Elusive Kitty has refused to race in the past and is now tried in first-time blinkers. However, she ran pretty well last time when third to Kryssa, a repeat of which certainly entitles her to respect. Of the others, Flight Commander has suggested ability, including when fifth behind subsequent Ebor winner Mephisto on his latest start, but, while the drop in trip from that run could prove interesting, he has not raced for 412 days. Overall, then, in a race where the betting could prove very informative, Sarenne is the selection.
