      Verdict

      The odds-on favourite failed to fire when Only Alone won a novice race at Beverley and it remains to be seen how strong that form is. Lara Silvia beat Lady Celia when landing a double at the end of last year but finished behind BALLYARE (NAP) at Newcastle when the latter found only one too good. That was the latter's first start after wind surgery and further improvement is expected from Lucinda Russell’s charge today. Mecca's Hot Steps looks no nearer winning having been beaten over three lengths when second last time and Manolith has struggled in both starts so far this year.
