In depth
Verdict
Hawkit has an obvious chance at the weights in this claimer and if running up to his best should be too good for his main rivals, who look to be Bijou Dan and Selika. The selection has been running with credit in handicaps of late and reproduced similar form when dropped into this grade at Chepstow last time. Assuming that Alan Bailey's gelding runs up to his rating, he should be too good for his rivals. The three-year-old Plenty Cried Wolf takes a drop in class having failed to live up to expectations in handicaps of late and has to be respected, if able to run up to his best. Russian Cafe has given little sign of encouragement of late and of more interest may be Ian Semple's Bijou Dan, who has claims on the pick of his form and comes from a yard that does well in this type of race. The Mark Tompkins-trained Selika has been running well in similar company of late and is another to consider but Hawkit has an obvious chance and he gets the vote.
