In depth

Verdict

BALLESTEROS found the competition too hot in the Windsor Castle at Ascot in June, but had been placed twice over C&D before that and Brian Meehan's charge gets the vote back in this company. Van Der Art found one too good again at Yarmouth last month and needs to find a bit more improvement now, as do both Rapid Heat Lad and Small Steps. The latter's stablemate and newcomer Radio Gaga is a half-sister to six winners and is worth noting along with fellow debutant Lawn Jamil, but Accession's entry in the Mill Reef Stakes suggests he's been showing plenty at home and he could prove a bigger threat.
