VANISHING POINT still looked a work in progress when seemingly taking an age to reel in Autumn Surprise to land an ordinary Carlisle maiden when last seen in early July. Given a good break since by Andrew Balding, he now returns to action upped a full three furlongs. His style of running suggests the trip will suit, there must be more to come after just four career starts and he starts handicap life here off a decent mark of 80. Apart from his fellow three-year-old, Michael's Mount, also respected, he is taken on by essentially older campaigners with not too much scope for further progress, although Dew Pond may be the exception. He goes especially well for the talented Rachel Richardson and takes a step down in grade here from his latest York run and seems sure to be in the mix. Champagne Champ, Obboorr and Ivanhoe are not without a chance either.
