Verdict
High Standing is bound to be popular for William Haggas with Kieren Fallon booked for the ride having won his last four starts but this represents a big step up in class for the four-year-old and preference is for FINJAAN, who gets the vote over Fleeting Spirit. Jeremy Noseda's filly found just the one too good on her reappearance in the King's Stand Stakes and went one better on her only outing since then when beating Main Aim in the July Cup. She has solid claims but the slightly softer ground today may not be to her advantage and a better bet may be Finjaan. Marcus Tregoning's colt is relatively lightly raced after just seven career starts and, after a disappointing return in the 2000 Guineas, showed that sprinting could be the future for him when winning well in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood. Main Aim is held by the selection on running last time as is J J The Jet Plane. Regal Parade also finished behind Finjaan at Goodwood but was not beaten far and he has to be considered for David Nicholls, who does so well with his sprinters. Michael Bell's Art Connoisseur has not run up to the form that he showed when winning the Golden Jubilee in two starts since Ascot but he cannot be discounted in a race taken to go to Finjaan.
