In depth

Verdict

The last two winners, G Force and GORDON LORD BYRON, are here for another crack as is last year's close fourth Sole Power, a regular Group 1 winner though over the minimum trip. Tom Hogan's seven-year-old also finished runner-up a year ago and can come out best of the trio and land the prestigious event for the second time. Three-year-olds have a very good record so dual Group 2 winner Adaay has to be respected with the ground in his favour along with the Nunthorpe third Mattmu while the unbeaten Twilight Son and the very progressive Group 3 winner Waady are also contenders. Danzeno may have finished closer in the July Cup but for being switched while Steward's Cup winner Magical Memory could hardly be in better form, though steps straight out of handicaps.
