In depth

Verdict

A big field for a small pot and Henry's Pride is the percentage pick ahead of Malmo Boy and Whitford Don. The Warwick winner does handle the conditions well and although he let punters down at Huntingdon, its worth bearing in mind that he would have finished much closer had he not made a bad mistake earlier in the race. Malmo Bay continues in good form and bids for the hat-trick. He was value for his 11 length margin on his latest rout but the handicapper has certainly taken evasive action as a consequence. Whitford Don's recent victories have been obtained on heavy going so it remains to be seen as to whether he can be quite as effective on this surface. Almire du Lia stays extended trips well if consenting to complete. King of Gothland is bred to stay trips although hasn't quite progressed as once promised. Finzi is a regular in this sort of event and is watched in the market. Over The Storm has blinkers reapplied in an effort to find his form. Black Smoke has ran well over the course-and-distance in the past. The Merry Mason and Woodlands Genpower have struggled of late while Grenfell is less exposed over this trip than most. A difficult race to get matters underway and Henry's Pride is given a chance to redeem himself.
